This is a ‘Blue Marble’ image of the Earth taken from the VIIRS instrument aboard NASA’s most recently launched Earth-observing satellite – Suomi NPP. It’s made up of many smaller pictures that were all taken on January 4, 2012.
How did we ever live without high definition?!
