Fables, Folktales, Fairy Tales, and Myths

The Grade 3 classes are getting ready to begin a Language Arts unit on Fables, which are short stories (typically with animals who have human characteristics) that illustrate a moral lesson.  A moral lesson teaches us about what is right and what is wrong.

Some of the Grade 3 students might be interested in reading some other stories like these from around the world.  Below you’ll find some links to other fables, folktales (a story that was once passed along from one generation to the next by word-of-mouth), and myths (a traditional story concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon.)  Click on the links to check them out:
