Today in Mysterious Notes

Apparently the first day back from Spring Break is a red-letter day for receiving mysterious notes in the Library.

Specimen 1: Created on one of our inkless typewriters…

In case you can't make out the top-secret message, it says: you are the best! from: unknown p.s. this letter will self destruct

Specimen 2: Found on the rat cage this morning, after the ratties returned from a Spring Break visit with one of our Grade 6 students…

Well, when you get a note like that, it’s impossible not to immediately investigate…

blue tail

Why yes. Yes, that is a blue rat tail.

While the more skeptical of our readers might question whether Evan truly had “no idea how it happened,” and that the truth has something to do with an errant blue highlighter, we actually believe him. The culprit, we feel, is a blue wicker ball that the rats like to chew on. Scout probably chewed on the ball, which stained her mouth, and then she licked her tail.

Blue-tailed, red-handed.

Blue-tailed, red-handed.
